MMLan started as a way for various members of MM to meet up and play some games. The numbers have steadily risen over the years to include friends, friends of friends, people we bump into - the more the merrier! We tend to be more about the social side than the serious gaming of events such as i-series.
The LAN is a mix of PC games, console games and meeting up with friends. Valve games (TF2, HL2DM, CS:S, L4D) are popular as are racing games such as the Flatout series and GRID but pretty much anything gets played.
We have a vision that this LAN will involve plenty of…
• FUN
• Alcohol
• Monkeys
• late night antics!
• Big screen films
• Guitar hero / Rock Band
• WII sports :D
Times and dates
This event will be held between the 10th and 13th March 2011, opening about 6pm Friday and running until 10am on the Monday.
As with any other LAN, 1st come 1st served for a place, booking is not a guarantee of a place but payment is. You will need to have read and understood our AUP/TOS before you book and pay
Information
MMLan is a BYOC (Bring your own computer) event, do not ask for us to provide PC's. Although there are several monitors that can be borrowed if needed.
The cost will be £25 each, with a maximum of 34 spaces for gamers.
Payment will be up front only, no cash on the door.
We can accommodate 2 extra servers at no cost, this is 1st come 1st served. Although the servers will be able to be loaded with anything else either prior to or during the event so just ask. We will have some games running with open Rcon to you all.
Our technical background and who we are.
Blackreign has been on numerous Cisco courses and worked extensively in Networking + some web design and server background, Dezz is our Linux guru and pub quiz champion. We also have Morloc who has expertise in web design, photoshopping, coding + various other skills, Farad is doing an engineering degree and can build a shelter if required and CaptainGinger is our Security man with a specialist subject of Hammers and monkey wrenches.
We also have some professional backing from a Network and Linux specialist company called Opusvl
Security
This includes site security, that means if you are seen doing anything that may damage or invoke a situation, we the MMlan staff will remove you from the venue, and we may press charges as per the TOS. If you see anything untoward please report it to any member of staff. We will also be using on site CCTV for the full event.
Remember, Security of your equipment will be your own responsibility
Co-Location servers
Will be free, no problem at all with that if you want to bring an extra server as far as I am concerned it improves the available games and downloads. Just let me know when we start booking in so I can arrange power for it. I will have to limit the number of servers to 6 though in total (we already have 4), so 1st come 1st served for co-loc. servers.
Competitions.
We can have some proper organised games.. 6vs6.. 8vs8 and so on... if enough people come. I know some others will be looking at a pub quiz, FLATOUT2 etc
Social stuff!
Any thoughts on other activities? Feel free to bring stuff with you for entertainment.
We have a large screen TV to use. There may be a WII or XBOX with games, feel free to bring your own and/or extra controllers.
